Three making partner at UTA

Increased ownership has become a long-term strategy

UTA has named alternative television head Chris Coelen and comedy specialists Lisa Hallerman and Sharon Sheinwold as partners in the agency.

UTA has nearly 100 agents, 22 of them partners. Increased ownership has been one of the tenpercentery’s long-term strategies.

Coelen formed the alternative TV department in 2001. In the past 12 months, it has packaged and launched 31 reality series into network, cable and syndication.

Prior to joining UTA in 1996, he was an agent at the Agency for the Performing Arts, which he joined in 1992. There, he created the agency’s first division representing news producers and on-air hosts. Prior to that, Coelen was a news producer at Fox Entertainment News.

A senior talent agent, Hallerman began her career as an attorney. She started working in entertainment for the late ICM agent Jon Sepler. Hallerman joined UTA in 1996, working for board member and talent department head Nick Stevens, and became a full agent in 1998. Hallerman’s clients include Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn as well as Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen.

Sheinwold joined UTA in 1992, starting in the mailroom. Her clients include Jack Black, Mike White, Jason Schwartzman, Jason Lee, Will Arnett, Amy Poehler, Miranda July and Liam Lynch.

“These promotions not only recognize the excellence of Sharon, Lisa and Chris as agents, but also their valuable role in the future growth and success of UTA,” chairman Jim Berkus said.
