TF1’s profit jumps in ’04

All of the figures were broadly in line with expectations

PARIS — TF1, France’s leading commercial broadcaster, on Tuesday posted a 2004 profit of e220.1 million ($286.6 million), up 15%, on revenues of $3.7 billion.

Programming costs grew 4.8% to $1.2 billion, while ad coin rose 6.6% to $2.1 billion. Operating profit rose 19.4% to $519.2 million.

All of the figures were broadly in line with analysts’ expectations.

For this year, the company predicted ad revenues will grow 3%-4%, while programming costs will rise less than 4%.

TF1 is expected to shed more light on its figures, with a breakdown of numbers for subsids TPS and EuroSport, at an analysts conference today.
