Series on wild ride from NBC to Eye

Leifer pens script, will serve as exec producer

DreamWorks Television’s Carol Leifer-produced laffer “Never in My Wildest” is jumping from NBC to CBS.

Eye has given a cast-contingent pilot pickup to the romantic laffer, which was first put into development by the Peacock in February 2004. After NBC’s option on the project expired, CBS comedy execs got their hands on the script and decided to put it into development.

Former “Seinfeld” scribe Leifer wrote the script and will serve as exec producer.

“Never in My Wildest” is a “Mad About You”-style comedic take on romance, but rather than focus on newlyweds, it explores a relationship from the time the lead couple starts dating.

NBC U Television Studios-based DreamWorks TV is producing the project. Darryl Frank, Justin Falvey and Howard Klein are exec producing with Leifer.

Deal reunites Leifer with CBS, which aired “The Ellen Show,” which she co-created and exec produced with Mitch Hurwitz (“Arrested Development”). Scribe’s other credits include “I’m With Her,” “It’s Like, You Know” and “Alright Already.”

Leifer also remains active as a standup comedian, regularly appearing with Jerry Seinfeld in Atlantic City, N.J., and other cities.
