William Morris senior veep Jorge Pinos is ankling the company to start up his own management and entertainment shingle, JEP Entertainment Group. It will open for business the first week of April.
Four of Pinos’ international clients, singers Juan Gabriel, Lucero, Jaime Camil and Jennifer Pena, will follow him to JEP. More artists are expected to follow.
Pinos has spent the last 22 years at William Morris working in international territories and bringing Latin artists to American audiences.
With JEP, Pinos will continue to work with Latin artists in both domestic and international territories. Immediate focus of the company will be servicing clients in the music world.
Long term, Pinos plans to involve the company in Latin television, commercials and endorsements. New artist development will also be a priority.
“We’re looking for new talent that will grow to be the comparison of the big talent that is out there now,” he said.
During his time at William Morris, Pinos was honored with Billboard Magazine’s Lifetime Achievement Award. He also received Imagen’s Vision Award and Prism’s Unsung Hero Award of 2001.
JEP Entertainment Group offices will be located in Encino.
