NBC is already looking to midseason, ordering a pilot from Paul Haggis (“Crash”) and redeveloping last spring’s lottery-themed pilot “Windfall.”
Fox originally developed “Windfall” and shot a pilot starring Luke Perry, Jason Gedrick and Sarah Wynter — but the net ultimately passed on the project.
“Windfall,” which comes from Regency TV and exec producer Laurie McCarthy (“CSI: Miami”), revolves around a group of young adults who win a record multi-million dollar lottery jackpot and find that the prize isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be.
NBC will retool the script and make casting changes before a new pilot is shot; it’s unclear whether Perry, Gedrick, Wynter or fellow stars Jaclyn DeSantis, Jon Foster and Alice Greczyn will return.
Not returning is Gwendolyn Parker, who created the original project with McCarthy but is now working on “Without a Trace.”
As for Haggis, the busy scribe is behind the NBC pilot “The Truth About Joey Ice Cream.”
Haggis, who will exec produce, wrote the script on spec. “Joey Ice Cream” follows the tale of Irish brothers who grow up in the world of organized crime in New York’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood.
