Brian Offutt has been named senior veep, Nickelodeon and Viacom Consumer Projects, putting him in charge of licensing and merchandising for Paramount Pictures.He will be responsible for the licensing of Steven Spielberg’s summer blockbuster “War of the Worlds” and maintenance of library staples like “Star Trek.” Offutt will report to Leigh Anne Brodsky, prexy of the New York-based Nickelodeon and Viacom Consumer Products. Offutt will operate out of Los Angeles. Offutt was previously chief operating officer of Broadway Video and Entertainment, a film and TV production company started by Lorne Michaels. Nickelodeon and Viacom Consumer Products is responsible for the licensing of Paramount, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, Spike TV and MTV Intl. properties.
