UTA partner David Schiff is leaving the tenpercentery to launch consulting, management and production shingle the Schiff Co.
Schiff’s client list at his new venture includes Liv Tyler, Ryan Phillippe, Wesley Snipes, Jeff Bridges, Eminem, Justin Timberlake, Eve, Gwen Stefani, Madeleine Stowe, Pharrell Williams and urban-apparel designer Mark Ecko. All plan to continue their representation at UTA.
Schiff has spent the past 13 years at UTA, joining a year after the agency was formed in 1991. He was previously a partner at Intertalent.
Recently, Schiff has focused his efforts on transitioning clients such as Eminem, Justin Timberlake, Gwen Stefani and Eve into film, television and other businesses outside the music industry.
Eminem starred in “8 Mile” and Timberlake stars in the upcoming “Edison” opposite Kevin Spacey and in Nick Cassavetes’ “Alpha Dog.” Eve’s credits include “Barbershop” and “Barbershop 2” as well as “The Woodsman” and “The Cookout.” Stefani had a cameo role as Jean Harlow in “The Aviator” and recently launched her fashion line, L.A.M.B.
“David has been at the heart of UTA’s growth and success since the beginning, and the agency will forever recognize his contributions,” said UTA chairman Jim Berkus. “We were disappointed when he told us of his decision, but we’re fully supportive of his plans, and we share his excitement and enthusiasm for what will be a very successful next chapter of his career.”
