NEW YORK — NBC Sports has elevated David Neal, exec VP of NBC Olympics, to the top overall production job of exec producer.
Also receiving a promotion is Sam Flood, producer of NASCAR events on NBC and TNT and National Hockey League coverage, who becomes coordinating producer of NBC Sports.
Neal reports to Dick Ebersol, chairman of NBC Sports and Olympics, who said that Neal will succeed Tommy Roy. Roy will move his family from Connecticut to Florida and continue to produce NBC’s golf coverage.
Neal will stay on as exec VP of NBC’s Olympic coverage; the network has locked up the rights to all of the Summer and Winter Olympics through 2012.
Flood will continue to supervise NASCAR and NHL programming and report to Neal.
Neal has worked on six Olympics with NBC, the last five as head of production. In that role, Neal has taken charge of engineering, programming, operations and production services for the Games.
During his career, Neal has produced four NBA Finals, two World Series and a Super Bowl pregame show.
Like Neal, Flood has produced NBC’s coverage of a number of Olympic events, as well as such programming as the Daytona 500 and the Breeders’ Cup.
