NEW YORK — “It’s great to follow Michael Moore,” said Clint Eastwood accepting a special award Tuesday night at the National Board of Review’s annual gala at Tavern on the Green in Gotham moments after the docmaker took his own statuette. “We have a lot in common, we have freedom of expression. But if you ever show up in front of my door with a camera you’re dead meat!”

Most of the evening’s other shout-out from the podium went to Eastwood — from swooning female honorees — until presenter Rosie Perez practically had a hot flash talking about working with screenwriter Charlie Kaufman, saying, “you are still one of the sexiest guys in Hollywood, ever. Sorry, Clint!”

Kaufman quipped, “If only I had known! That’s the nicest thing anyone’s ever said to me.”

As the evening wore on, host Jon Favreau held up his hefty script and cracked, “We’re gonna get through the Haggadah, and then we’re gonna eat!”
