Paul Webster and Stephen Garrett’s Kudos Pictures has unveiled its first project, “Wake Up Dead,” a psychological thriller to be directed by Bharat Nalluri.

Scripted by first-timer Marcus Lloyd (who previously ran the Phoenix arthouse cinema in north London), it’s the story of a man who regains consciousness at the foot of a cliff with no memory of how he got there.

But he knows that someone has tried to kill him, and he spends the movie trying to work out what happened.

Webster, the former FilmFour topper and ex-Miramax exec, joined up with Garrett last summer.

Garrett previously produced the low-budget movies “Among Giants” and “Pure” alongside a slew of TV dramas through his company Kudos Film and TV, but launched Kudos Pictures in partnership with Webster to step up his film activities.

Webster has spent much of the past year producing Joe Wright’s “Pride and Prejudice” for Working Title, while quietly revamping the Kudos film slate.

“Wake Up Dead” will mark Nalluri’s first feature since “Crow 3” in 2000. He has since directed two hit TV series for Garrett — “Spooks” and “Hustle” — and he’s the lead director on the upcoming Kudos TV project “Life on Mars.”
