MultiChoice ups pay TV service

World Brief

Global sat op Eutelsat has agreed to provide additional capacity to paycaster MultiChoice Africa so that the Johannesburg-based pan-African caster can expand its DSTV TV service in West and Central Africa.

MultiChoice Africa will lease two transponders on SESAT 1 to enable it to offer an additional 36 channels in French and Portuguese for Angola, Mozambique and French-speaking countries in Central Africa. A number of commercial free-to-air channels from East and West Africa will be added to the DSTV services in these regions to strengthen the local feel of the bouquet of channels on offer, said MultiChoice Africa.

The new capacity adds to the seven transponders already operated by MultiChoice Africa.
