NEW YORK — MSNBC will debut a twice-daily political talkshow next week hosted by Richard Nixon biographer Monica Crowley and political analyst Ron Reagan.
“Connected: Coast to Coast” will telecast live daily at noon and again at 5 p.m. ET; the first hour will examine the news of the day, while the second will incorporate viewers’ questions into the debate.
Crowley will host the earlier hour from MSNBC studios in New Jersey. Reagan will host the second hour from Redmond, Wash.
Reagan and Crowley, who represent the political left and right, respectively, will contribute to blogs and will feature guest bloggers and the video dispatches of “citizen journalists.”
“The idea is to have a debate show where people don’t yell at each other and to expand it beyond politics,” a spokeswoman said.
The early show replaces an hour of live news coverage; the second hour replaces an hour of “Lester Holt Live,” reducing Holt’s show to an hour.
Reagan most recently served as a political analyst during the elections for MSNBC’s “Hardball With Chris Matthews” and as host of dog show telecasts for Animal Planet.
Crowley, a former assistant to Nixon from 1990-94, wrote “Nixon Off the Record: His Candid Commentary on People and Politics” and “Nixon in Winter.”
