Rebecca Marks has been upped to exec VP of the NBC U TV Group’s West Coast publicity division.
New post gives Marks oversight for PR at NBC Entertainment, NBC U Television Studio and the company’s cable and syndication divisions. She continues to report directly to NUT Group prexy Jeff Zucker and NBC U exec VP for corporate communications Anna Perez.
“With last spring’s merger, Rebecca took on additional responsibilities,” Zucker said. “This promotion to divisional executive VP recognizes her outstanding leadership of our communications initiatives across the wide spectrum of NBC Universal’s entertainment-related networks and businesses.”
Marks had been senior VP of entertainment since July 2001, adding additional duties as NBC took on new companies such as Bravo and the Universal cable nets. She also serves as Zucker’s primary spokeswoman.
She joined NBC in 1984, working her way through various divisions of the company before becoming a junior publicist in 1991. Marks was upped to VP in 1999 and helped merge the net’s print and electronic media PR departments into one unit.
During her tenure, Marks has worked on a number of major campaigns, including, most recently, those for the “Friends” finale and the launch of “The Apprentice.”
