Journalist Jane Barton died April 1 in Charleston, NY. She was 86. For 25 years, Baron was the program director of the Radio TV Motion Picture Bureau of the state of New York. She was a charter member of American Women in Radio and Television, and served two terms on its national board of directors.

From 1970 to 1990 she covered upstate New York and the state legislature for Variety.

She is survived by two nieces and a nephew.
