ICM has hired Michael Gruber as a talent agent.
The veteran agent most recently worked at CAA, ankling in October 2002 with a two-year noncompete clause.
Shortly thereafter, Gruber formed Gruber Entertainment, which had a first-look deal with MGM. Then, in September 2003, Gruber partnered with Matt Walden to form SideStreet Entertainment, a partnership with post house New Wave Entertainment.
SideStreet will continue in conjunction with New Wave under Walden and his production head Mara Jacobs.
Gruber resigned from CAA after a dispute over a fee that Gruber was to have received — though eventually didn’t — from an Italian real estate transaction he helped set up for client George Clooney. Gruber brought Clooney to CAA from the William Morris Agency.
Prior to joining CAA in August 1999, Gruber was senior VP and head of WMA’s talent department.
Gruber also served as executive producer on “Next Friday” and recently produced two albums for Vanessa Williams.
