Gauls gallivant in Le Park

Chabat, Debbouze, Magimel bring celeb clout to party

The crème de la crème of French showbiz mingled with lower life-forms at Canal Plus’ splashy soiree at Mougins’ fancy Le Park Friday night.

Lending the occasion some celeb clout were comic talents Alain Chabat and Jamel Debbouze, and thesps Benoit Magimel and Clovis Cornillac, the stars of upcoming French “Top Gun” style actioner “Sky Fighters.”

Also schmoozing the night away were Vivendi Universal topper Jean-Rene Fourtou and Canal Plus head Bertrand Meheut, European Commissioner Viviane Reding and jury member Agnes Varda. “I’m enjoying everything,” the Gallic helmer said.

Guests bored with sipping cocktails had plenty of divertissements to keep them occupied. Party featured a silent disco — dancers and DJ grooved to the sounds in their headsets — a reflexology corner for over-stressed fest attendees, and a fortune teller.

Others opted for a stroll through the Le Park’s ornamental gardens, complete with a large pond inhabited by swans.

Nearly 900 guests throughout the night and a steady flow of buses between Mougins and Cannes kept the party atmosphere going into the wee small hours.
