Frog’s sked heavy on deja view

Repeats abound, while 'Fran' takes a time-out

The WB is shaking up its sked, making changes on three of the six nights it programs.

A pair of frosh skeins, “Related” and “Twins,” will move to new timeslots, while “Living With Fran” and “Blue Collar TV” are going on hiatus. Net also is giving auds another chance to sample frosh hit “Supernatural” by slating same-week repeats of the spooky skein on Sundays.

Biggest shift is the Oct. 31 move of “Related” to Mondays at 9 p.m., where it will follow “7th Heaven” and replace the canceled “Just Legal.” At least for now, Frog plans to fill “Related’s” current 9 p.m. Wednesday slot with encore showings of “Related.”

WB also is playing with its Friday comedy sked, moving newcomer “Twins” to the prize 9:30 p.m. timeslot following “Reba,” starting this week. Frog says “Fran,” which had been airing post-“Reba,” is not canceled, and that the remaining nine segs ordered for this season will air at a later date. Repeats of “What I Like About You” will fill the 8:30 p.m. vacancy left by the shift of “Twins.”

Frog’s new sked is unusually repeat-heavy. In addition to weekly “encores” of “What I Like About You” and “Related,” net is adding a repeat run of “Supernatural” Sundays at 9 p.m. after “Charmed.” (Remaining produced segs of “Blue Collar TV” will air at a later date.) Add in the previously skedded 7-8 p.m. Sunday repeats of “Reba,” and 3½ of the 13 weekly primetime hours programmed by the WB — more than 25% of the total — will be regularly scheduled repeats.

A Frog croaksman said the repeat moves were designed to boost sampling for a pair of key frosh players. They also rep what he admitted was a strategic short-term retreat from two of the toughest timeslots on TV: Sundays and Wednesdays at 9 p.m., opposite the ABC juggernauts “Desperate Housewives” and “Lost,” respectively.
