NEW YORK — The Fox News Channel has promoted Bill Shine to senior VP of programming, giving him responsibility for all of the network’s programming and production.

Reporting directly to Roger Ailes, chairman-CEO of Fox News, Shine succeeds Kevin Magee, who was promoted to senior veepee of Fox News Radio earlier this month. (Shine formerly reported to both Magee and Ailes.)

For Shine, it’s business as usual. “Nothing needs fixing because nothing is broke” at the Fox News Channel, he said. “We beat our competitors in every hour of every day, so my job will be to build on that success.”

Shine joined Fox News in 1996 as a producer for the primetime “Hannity & Colmes” series. He became executive producer for primetime in 1999, rising to network executive producer a year later. From 2001-03, he was exec producer of the Fox Network primetime magazine series “The Pulse.” Shine became VP of production for Fox News Channel in 2003.
