Fox Broadcasting has upped Stefani Relles to VP of creative writer development.
Relles, who’s been at the net since 2002, will continue to focus on finding scribes from outside the usual TV gene pool. She’ll report to Fox comedy development topper Jeremy Gold.
During the past two years in the net’s creative writer division, Relles has made deals with scribes such as Jeff Whitty and Jason Moore of “Avenue Q” fame and playwright Maurice Chauvet.
Relles also has been out front with Fox’s collaboration with the Naked Angels Theater Company, in which potential series ideas are performed as plays. Project has already resulted in three script deals and the 2005 pilot “Dirtbags.”
Praising Relles for “her skilled eye for ferreting out undiscovered writing talent,” Gold said she has helped in “reinvigorating our development process.”
“I look forward to her continued contributions as we reach out to a wider artistic community,” he added.
Before joining Fox, Relles was director of original series programming at USA Network, where she helped develop “The Dead Zone” and “Monk.”
