“Ed” star Tom Cavanagh and “Early Edition’s” Kyle Chandler are plotting their return to TV, while Fox has greenlit a pilot based on chef Anthony Bourdain’s memoir “Kitchen Confidential.”
Chandler has been cast as Cooper in NBC’s comedy pilot “Lies and the Wives We Tell Them To.” NBC U TV laffer, from exec producers David Guarascio and Moses Port, follows four buddies as they wade through marriage.
Thesp’s recent credits include short-lived series “What About Joan” and “The Lyon’s Den,” as well as the telepic “And Starring Poncho Villa as Himself.”
Cavanagh is on board to star as a record label A&R rep in the CBS romantic drama “Love Monkey.” Thesp’s addition lifts the cast contingency on the Sony TV/Paramount/Gran Via pilot.
Project, from Michael Rauch and Mark Johnson, is based on the book by Kyle Smith. Cavanagh recently appeared in the telepic “Snow” and did guest stints on “Scrubs” and “Jack & Bobby.”
In other casting news, Amanda Detmer (“A.U.S.A.”) will play Deena in the ABC pilot “What About Brian,” from Touchstone and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot TV.
Meanwhile, David Hemingson is writing and exec producing, while Darren Star is also an exec producer, on “Kitchen Confidential” (Daily Variety, Dec. 9). Twentieth Century Fox TV, New Line TV and Darren Star’s production shingle are behind the show.
Project is based on chef and Food Network host Bourdain — the lead character is even named Jack Bourdain, a bad-boy chef who takes over a New York restaurant but must work to tame his wild ways.
