Darren Star and scribe Ayanna Floyd (“Medical Investigation”) are getting ready to explore the lives of “Basketball Wives” for Fox.
Net is developing a script for the one-hour drama, a sudser revolving around the lives of women romantically involved with pro hoops players. Would-be skein will be set in Atlanta and focus on what it’s like being married to someone who has everything and how that life isn’t exactly what the women bargain for.
Floyd will write the script, with Star exec producing via his Sony Pictures Television-based shingle.
“Basketball Wives” has no official connection with “Footballers Wives,” the saucy Blighty sudser now in its second season on BBC America.
Star is in the middle of a very active development season at Sony. The “Sex and the City” creator has got a two-for-one deal at Sony, while the WB has given a pilot commitment to a Star-produced drama set in the Hamptons (Daily Variety, Aug. 29). His frosh laffer “Kitchen Confidential” is set to return to Fox next month.
Former Brillstein-Grey exec Susie Fitzgerald recently came aboard to head Star’s company.
