Endemol fathers deals for ‘Big Brother’

Latin American nets join forces for 'Pacifico'

AMSTERDAM — Scrap any notion that “Big Brother” may disappear from TV screens — global production outfit Endemol has clinched a raft of deals in Latin America.

TV Globo in Brazil has reupped “Big Brother” for seasons six, seven and eight, with six to launch in early 2006.

Peru’s ATV, Chile’s La Red and Ecuador’s Telesistema have joined forces to produce “Big Brother Pacifico.” New production company Endemol Andino will produce a Colombian version of the show, while Televisa has signed for the fourth series in Mexico.

In Eastern Europe, NTV Bulgaria has acquired “Big Brother” series 2, and RTL Croatia has renewed for the second season as well.

“Big Brother” isn’t the only format with drawing power. Other deals include “All You Need Is Love” to RTL Croatia; “1 vs. 100” to Nova TV in the Czech Republic; and three in the Middle East — “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” and “La Fureur” to LBC in Lebanon and “World’s Apart” to MBC.

Endemol also has sold the third series of “Star Academy” to TVA in Canada and “Heartbeat” to Star India.
