Disney-ABC casts marketer in new role

HOLLYWOOD — Eleo Hensleigh has been promoted to the newly created position of chief marketing officer and exec veep of marketing brand and strategies for Disney-ABC Television Group.

The position gives Hensleigh responsibility for marketing both the ABC network and Disney-ABC’s cable properties, which include the Disney Channel, Toon Disney, ABC Family and Soapnet.

The position marks the first time that the management of marketing for both Disney-ABC’s cable channels and the ABC network will reside with one person.

Prior to the promotion, Hensleigh was exec veep of worldwide brand strategy for Disney-ABC Cable Networks Group, overseeing marketing and branding for Disney-ABC’s domestic and international cable channels.

Hensleigh had input beyond cable, contributing to marketing for ABC’s fall primetime slate.

Anne Sweeney, Disney-ABC TV Group’s prexy, said that Hensleigh’s contributions to the marketing of ABC’s fall schedule “have had a tremendous impact on the early success of our premiering series,” in the statement announcing the appointment.

Hensleigh became senior veep at the Disney Channel in 1996. She was ABC Cable exec veep of marketing from 1999-2001, overseeing marketing for Disney Channel and Toon Disney. Prior to that, she worked at both FX and Nickelodeon.
