‘Death’ focus on stars

World Brief

Forensics gets a celebrity twist in “Death by Excess,” a new series by Southern Star’s Blighty off-shoot Oxford Scientific Films (OSF) that has been commissioned by satcaster BSkyB’s flagship chan-nel Sky One.

Skein will use forensic evidence, psych profiling and “CSI”-style graphics to explain how celebs such as Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain and River Phoenix died.

“We see this as a new genre — chemical biographies,” said OSF exec producer Paul Sen. “It’s a fan-tastic mix of showbiz and biology, celebrity culture and science.”

“Excess” will be distributed internationally by Southern Star Intl.
