“NYPD Blue” star Mark-Paul Gosselaar has reunited with old boss Steven Bochco, joining the cast of ABC’s “Commander in Chief.”
Gosselaar reps the first major casting change on the White House drama since Bochco took over as showrunner earlier this month. Thesp will play a slick media strategist; character has not yet been given a name.
Gosselaar has become a favorite of Bochco’s, having starred as Det. John Clark on “Blue” from 2001 to the show’s 2005 finale. Thesp also recently guested as a reporter on a seg of Bochco’s FX war drama “Over There.”
He’ll first appear in the ninth episode of “Commander.”
Gosselaar’s other credits include the TBS telepic “Atomic Twister” and the short-lived WB series “Hyperion Bay” and “D.C.” Prior to “Blue,” he was best known as Zack Morris from the teen skein “Saved by the Bell.”
Feature credits include “Dead Man on Campus.”
Alphabet web recently picked up a full season of “Commander,” which comes from Touchstone TV. Geena Davis stars as the nation’s first female president; Kyle Secor, Donald Sutherland, Harry Lennix, Ever Carradine, Caitlin Wachs, Matt Lanter and Jasmine Anthony also star.
