HOLLYWOOD — Warner Music Group has turned to a veteran of the technology research and investment world to oversee all of the company’s finance functions, information technology and investor relations.
Michael D. Fleisher has been named exec VP and chief financial officer. He will report to WMG chairman-chief exec Edgar Bronfman Jr.
For five years, Fleisher has served as chairman and CEO of Gartner, the world’s leading technology research company. He joined Gartner in 1993 and led the company’s initial public offering as well as its move to the New York Stock Exchange. At Gartner, Fleisher completed more than 30 acquisitions and investments.
Prior to Gartner, Fleisher served as an associate at Bain Capital, a venture capital and buyout firm that’s one of the principal owners of Warner Music. Michael Ward, WMG’s interim chief financial officer, will return to his full-time position as managing director of Bain Capital.
“Michael (Fleisher)’s background, in combination with his vast global business experience and understanding of the impact of technology on content industries, makes him particularly well suited to lead our worldwide financial operations,” Bronfman said.
