NEW YORK — Stevie Wonder, Madonna, Norah Jones, Diana Ross, Brian Wilson, Eric Clapton, Usher and Maroon 5 will be among the performers taking part in NBC Universal’s tsunami benefit special, which airs Saturday beginning at 8 p.m. ET across all the Peacock’s TV networks plus broadcast net Pax.
Also skedded to appear on the live broadcast are thesps Halle Berry, George Clooney, Matt Damon, Danny DeVito, Michael Douglas, Rhea Pearlman, Tim Robbins, Kevin Spacey, Uma Thurman, Bruce Willis and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
NBC U has partnered with the American Red Cross for the telethon special. Viewers will be encouraged to donate to the American Red Cross Intl. Response Fund, which is directly involved in providing aid to the millions affected by the devastating tsunamis.
Other musicians skedded to perform on the NBC U benefit special include India.Arie, Mary J. Blige, Kenny Chesney, Sheryl Crow, Gloria Estefan, Lenny Kravitz, Tom Jones, John Mayer, Sarah McLachlan and Roger Waters.
Besides NBC proper and Pax, special will air on USA Network, Bravo, Trio, Sci Fi Channel, MSNBC, CNBC and Telemundo.
