New Line has sold “Wedding Crashers” in a shared network window to TBS and Comedy Central, building into the deal an added carve-out for a broadcast network still to be named. TBS will take the first series of plays, beginning in the second quarter of 2008, and the broadcaster will buy one or two runs in 2009-2010. The total license fee from all three buyers should end up at or near 15% of the movie’s eventual domestic box office. New Line and TBS confirmed the deal but declined to give any details. “Crashers” already has harvested $80.4 million in its first two weeks at U.S. multiplexes, dropping only 24% in the second week. The networks were not deterred by the fact that they’ll have to do some editing of the R-rated movie to make it acceptable for broadcast standards.
