‘Wicked’ road tour bows in Toronto

Tuner to run at Canon through April 24

Casting is complete for the tour of Broadway hit “Wicked,” which kicks off March 8 at Toronto’s Canon Theater. Joe Mantello, who directed the tuner on Broadway, also helms the road company.

Stephanie J. Block will play Elphaba, aka the Green Girl, opposite Kendra Kassebaum as her witchy friend Glinda. (Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth, respectively, created the roles on Broadway.)

David Garrison plays the Wizard of Oz, with Carol Kane as Madame Morrible and Derrick Williams as Fiyero.

Rounding out the cast are Jenna Leigh Green as Nessarose, Logan Lipton as Boq and Timothy Britten Parker as Dr. Dillamond. In the ensemble are Katie Adams, Timothy Anderson, Terra Lynn Arrington, Aaron Albano, Peter John Chursin, Matt Clemons, Nicholas Drommard, Laura Dysarczyk, Maria Eberline, Brooke Elliott, Lori Holmes, Adam Lambert, KW Miller, Kristen Oei, Chris Peluso, Don Richard, Emily Rozek, Chris Russo, Brian Slaman, James Tabeek, Barbara Tirrell, Brooke Wendle and Nicole Winhoffer.

The musical, adapted from Gregory Maguire’s novel by Winnie Holzman, with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, is scheduled to run at the Canon through April 24.

It then visits Chicago’s Ford Center for the Performing Arts for a April 29-June 12 stand.

“Wicked” continues at Gotham’s Gershwin Theater as well.
