Biopics and plays continue apace with Garth Wingfield’s “Flight.”
The drama, based on the life of Charles Lindbergh, will go into the Lucille Lortel Theater, where it follows Neil LaBute’s “Fat Pig.” Previews begin May 8, with the world premiere set for May 16.
Wingfield’s play follows the American aviator for the 14-year period that began with his historic flight to Paris, included the kidnapping of his son and ended with his anti-Semitic remarks at the outbreak of WWII. Gregg Edelman, last seen on Broadway in “Wonderful Town,” plays Lindbergh. Ensemble includes Kerry O’Malley, Brian d’Arcy James, Adam Heller, Rex Young and Victoria Mack.
Nick Corley directs “Flight,” which will be presented by the Melting Pot Theater Company. Its last production at the Lortel was Lee Blessing’s “Cobb,” based on the life of baseball great Ty Cobb.
