Exposed” is a making-of docu that’s entertaining if not necessarily no-holds-barred. Chronicling the three-week shoot of the gay porn extravaganza “Buckleroos”– which also was created under the auspices of Colt Studios and swept the 2004 Gay VN Awards — pic benefits from female helmer Mr. Pam’s light touch, leavening content that’s sometimes close to glorified in-house promotion. Gay fest travel is assured prior to DVD release.
“Buckleroos'” silly — yet substantial by porn standards — story has two ranch-settled former rodeo performers (Dean Phoenix, Marcus Iron) visited by a mystical “Man in Black” (Zak Spears) whose magic belt-buckles can turn anyone into an instant sex buddy. Many such interludes ensue (involving gay adult-film familiars as cops, hitchhikers, even proselytizing Mormon youth) before lead couple rekindle their own romantic flame. There’s much talk of grinding hard work, yet despite oppressive weather and a food-poisoning crisis, pic’s emphasis on sexy performers doesn’t exactly put that across. Though cast/crew exalt set’s “family” vibe, it’s unclear what makes this different from other porn shoots. Still, personalities are pleasant and/or colorful, pic engaging and titillating if overextended. Erect members are shown, but explicit sex acts stay off-screen.
