MADRID — Spanish production and sales company Wanda Films has picked up international sales rights to Mercedes Alvarez’s Spanish village docu, “El cielo gira” (The Sky Turns), which won a Tiger Award at the latest Rotterdam fest.

Made with the support of Victor Erice (“The Spirit of the Beehive,” “The Quince Tree Sun”) and Jose Luis Guerin (“In Construction”), pic is produced by Jose Maria Lara P.C. and Alokatu.

Pic bears both helmers’ hallmarks departing from a record of the drab plateau-set village in which Alvarez was born to become a lyrical reflection on the passage of time and art’s role in capturing the past.
