“Cry, the Beloved Country” helmer Darrell James Roodt will direct indie pic “Prey,” starring Bridget Moynahan, for producer Anant Singh.
Beau Bauman and Jeff Wadlow, the duo behind Focus Features’ “Cry Wolf,” co-wrote the screenplay with Roodt.
Story follows an American family in Africa on holiday that becomes lost in a labyrinthine game reserve and is stalked by savage lions.
Helmer’s “Yesterday” was a best foreign film nominee earlier this year for South Africa.
Singh described “Prey” as “a suspense-filled film that can be likened to ‘Jaws’ in the African bush.”
Pic is set to shoot in South Africa in August.
Helena Spring is also producing, with Peter Schlessel, Sanjeev Singh and Sudhir Pragjee as exec producers.
