Kidtoon adds 2 WB titles

Tom & Jerry, Scooby-Doo to anchor kiddie program

HOLLYWOOD — Kidtoon Films, a firm that distribs kidpics to theaters for early Saturday and Sunday shows, has announced it will present two new Warner Bros. Animation titles in its program, Tom & Jerry toon “The Fast and the Furry” and “Scooby-Doo in Where’s My Mummy?”

Titles will anchor the Kidtoon program, which is designed for young tykes and includes shorts and sing-alongs.

Weekend morning shows, which utilize the digital projection systems designed to present the pre-show blurbs, are offered for booking to exhibs to fill a time period when there’s typically little traffic at theaters.

The Warners titles were both produced by its direct-to-homevid unit. “The Kidtoon Film promotional theatrical release brings beloved classic characters in new, fun-filled movies to the big screen for kids,” said Dorinda Marticorena, veep of kids and sports marketing for Warner Home Video.

“We are very excited to be able to include movies featuring such well- known characters as Tom & Jerry and Scooby-Doo in our weekend matinee program,” said Michele Martell, senior VP of Kidtoon Films.

“Fast and Furry” will go on the Kidtoon program starting Friday. “Where’s My Mummy” goes out in November.
