PARIS — Gerard Jugnot, star of Oscar-nominated Gallic hit “Les Choristes”, was the highest paid French actor in 2004, netting $7.1 million, according to a survey published Monday.
Jugnot’s earnings soared above their usual level thanks also to his co-producing the pic, which grossed $66 million in France.
Gaul’s other high earners last year were Jean Reno, who made $4.6 million (including nearly $3 million for “The Corsican Investigation”), Gerard Depardieu, who earned $4.4 million on some five films, and Christian Clavier, who made $4.2 million, (including $2.6 million for “The Corsican Investigation”).
Gallic actresses were way behind their male counterparts.
The first female thesp on the list was tenth-placed Audrey Tautou, who earned $1.15 million for “A Very long Engagement”.
The survey published by the weekly supplement Figaro Entreprises only took account of earnings on films released in 2004.
