Paez takes Latino trophy; Arzt wins women's award

Florida State University students won two of the four DGA Student Filmmaker Awards for women and minorities.

FSU’s Cristy Paez took the Latino trophy for “My Golden Cage” and Jennifer Arzt won the women’s award for “Cake.”

Ya’Ke Smith of the University of Texas at Austin won the African American award for “Hope’s War” and Jenn Kao of UCLA took the Asian American trophy for “Outside.”

Each winner will be awarded $2,500 and a $1,000 product grant from Kodak. The films will be screened Nov. 15 at the DGA in Hollywood.
