‘Cable Guy’ going wide

Pic developed, financed by Parallel Entertainment

Paramount Pictures is planning a wide national release for the recently completed pic “Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector” on March 31.

Starring comedian Larry the Cable Guy in his debut theatrical feature, project was developed, produced and financed by L.A.-based Parallel Entertainment under shingle’s multipicture, first-look  production pact with Paramount Home Entertainment. Parallel founder J.P. Williams and producing partner Alan Blomquist produced.

Helmed by Trent Cooper and penned by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer, the film sees Larry the Cable Guy working as a big city health inspector assigned to investigate a series of food poisoning incidents at the city’s top restaurants.

“Health Inspector” is the second pic Parallel has produced as part of its six-picture deal with Par following Parallel’s “Blue Collar Comedy Tour Rides Again.” That pic debuted on the Paramount Home Entertainment label in December 2004.

Parallel is in pre-production on the third pic in that series, “Blue Collar Comedy Tour: One for the Road,” set to lense at the Warner Theater in Washington, D.C. in March.
