Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock have inked to star in Warner Bros.’ romantic drama “Il Mare” for Argentinian helmer Alejandro Agresti.
Pic reuniting actors who teamed on 1994’s “Speed” will start shooting in Chicago in March.
Script, penned by Pulitzer-winning playwright David Auburn, is an English-language remake of the Korean pic of the same name produced by Sidus.
Love story concerns a lonely doctor (Bullock) and a frustrated architect (Reeves) who live in the same house two years apart and fall in love via letters they exchange through a mailbox that mysteriously bridges time.
Pic is being produced by Roy Lee and Doug Davison of Vertigo Entertainment and exec produced by Mary McLaglen. Manager-producer Erwin Stoff will get an unspecified production credit.
Reeves most recently starred in “The Matrix” trilogy for Warner Bros. and will next be seen in the studio’s Feb. 18 release “Constantine.”
