“EuroTrip” lead Scott Mechlowicz and Amy Smart will star in “The Way of the Peaceful Warrior” for director Victor Salva.
Based on Dan Millman’s autobio, “Peaceful Warrior” is the story of a college student who’s training to be an Olympic gymnast when he meets a mysterious old man who becomes his mentor.
The film is co-financed by DEJ Prods., the production arm of Blockbuster Video, and foreign sales agency Inferno Films. However, DEJ has committed to a theatrical release for the film, and both domestic and international rights might go to other distribution companies.
Screenplay was adapted by Kevin Bernhardt, Bob Dolman (“The Banger Sisters”) and Salva.
Sobini Films’ Mark Amin, Robin Schorr and Cami Winikoff produce the pic with David Welch. It is slated to begin production in early March in Los Angeles.
Mechlowicz also starred in the Paramount Classics release “Mean Creek.”
Salva’s credits include “Jeepers Creepers” and its sequel.
