Students draw NATPE kudos

McDonald takes top prize

The National Assn. of Television Program Executives (NATPE) has honored four students with its annual Student Video & Film Production Awards.

Deborah McDonald of San Francisco’s Academy of Art U. took the top prize, raking in $3,000. David Fontenot of Colorado State took second prize, for the second year in a row, receiving $1,000. McDonald’s and Fontenot’s schools receive matching donations of $3,000 and $1,000, respectively, from NATPE. Honorable mentions were awarded to Jason Loya of Cal State L.A. and to James Thomas from Malone College in Ohio.

Competish drew 50 entries from 32 schools representing 19 U.S. states as well as submissions from Canada.
