The Stony Brook Film Festival will kick off July 21 with an East Coast preem of “Marilyn Hotchkiss’ Ballroom Dancing and Charm School,” starring Marisa Tomei, Robert Carlyle, Mary Steenburgen, John Goodman and Danny DeVito.
Pic preemed earlier this year at Sundance and was picked up there by Samuel Goldwyn Films.
The 10th anniversary edition of the Stony Brook fest — which runs through July 30 at the Stony Brook U. Staller Center for the Arts on Long Island — will unspool 21 features and 14 shorts.
Other highlights will include Terry Green’s newly completed “Heavens Fall,” which stars Timothy Hutton, Leelee Sobieski and David Strathairn. Pic follows the story of the Scottsboro boys, nine black teenagers accused in 1931 of raping two white girls in Alabama.
Green’s last pic, “Almost Salinas,” won Stony Brook in 2002.
East Coast preem of “Elles etaient cinq” (The Five of Us), by French Canadian helmer Ghyslaine Cote, closes the fest.
