Spacek, Harrelson sign on for Caro project

Thesps join Theron, McDormand on drama

Sissy Spacek and Woody Harrelson have joined the cast of Warner Bros./Participant Prods.’ upcoming drama “Untitled Niki Caro Project.”

Charlize Theron and Frances McDormand were already announced to star in the pic, which will begin production mid-February in New Mexico and Minnesota. Cast also will include Sean Bean, Richard Jenkins, Jeremy Renner and Michelle Monaghan.

Spacek and Jenkins play the parents of Josie Aimes (Theron), a single mom who rallies her female co-workers to rise above the unfair treatment they face at a local mining company. Harrelson plays Josie’s lawyer, Bean plays the boyfriend of Josie’s best friend Glory (McDormand), Renner is a mineworker and former classmate of Josie’s, and Monaghan is Josie’s fellow mineworker.

Pic, penned by Michael Seitzman and to be directed by Caro, was inspired by the book “Class Action: The Story of Lois Jenson and the Landmark Case That Changed Sexual Harassment Law,” by Clara Bingham and Laura Leedy Gansler.

Producer is Nick Wechsler. Nana Greenwald, Jeff Skoll, Helen Bartlett and Doug Claybourne are exec producing.
