Sony has bought an untitled thriller pitch by Scott Rosenberg for Mike De Luca to produce via his Sony-based shingle, Michael De Luca Prods.
In the pic, a former thief who once specialized in stealing items while in transit is pressed into service by a Pentagon official, who’s obsessed with masterminding a 21st-century heist aboard fabled train the Orient Express.
Rosenberg will co-write and supervise the pic with Evan Weiner.
De Luca and Rosenberg will produce, and Kevin Turrin will associate produce.
Jonathan Krauss will oversee the project for Sony.
Rosenberg, a writer on Sony’s “Spider-Man,” is also writing “Let’s Get Harry” for producer Neal Moritz, also at Sony.
De Luca recently wrapped “Ghost Rider,” a Marvel comicbook adaptation starring Nicolas Cage, for Sony. He’s currently in production on Sony’s “Zathura,” based on the children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg, which Jon Favreau is directing.
