After five years at the studio, Susan Tick is ankling her post as senior VP of corporate communications at Sony.
Tick decided not to renew her contract, which is up this year, but will remain in place at Sony helping with the transition until a replacement is named.
Tick joined the Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group as senior VP of media relations in February 2000. In December of that year, she was promoted to her present title.
In her post, she’s been responsible for internal and external communications while working in coordination with Sony Corp. of America and Sony Corp. in Tokyo, as well as Sony’s other operating companies.
During her tenure, she dealt with the David Manning debacle, in which Sony concocted a fake critic to pump its films; the sale of Culver Studios; and the recent buyout of MGM by a consortium led by Sony.
Before joining Sony, she spent two years as a corporate communications consultant., and from 1988 through 1996 she headed up public relations activities for the CBS Broadcast Group in Los Angeles as VP of entertainment publicity.
