Docu helmer Doug Pray’s “Infamy” — which follows the lives of graffiti artists in various U.S. cities — will world preem at mixed media festival Resfest, which runs in Gotham Sept. 15-18.
Pray earlier helmed such edgy docs as “Scratch,” about a cadre of DJs, and “Hype!,” centering on the Seattle grunge rock scene of the late 1990s.
Another highlight at this year’s Resfest is a planned musicvid retrospective for genre-busting alt-rocker Beck.
“I didn’t want to make another ‘scene movie’ or a general overview of a subculture and its history,” said Pray of his latest feature and its Resfest debut. “Instead, we’ve set out to create a more hard-hitting, personal portrayal of the pain and joy of being addicted to the only illegal art form there is.”
Docu was produced by 1171 Production Group and exec produced by Paladin Entertainment and QD3.
Traveling Resfest, an arm of nine-year-old RES Media Group, kicks off at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center Sept. 15. Fest ultimately hits 40 cities internationally with a mixed program of short films, musicvid programs, events, parties and live music.
