NEW YORK — Gotham-based production shingle Plum Pictures — the producers behind IFC Films’ upcoming comedy pic “The Baxter” — has set up a production fund with Kentucky-based Hart-Lunsford Pictures that will finance a minimum of two pics per year, budgeted at less than $3 million.
Deal with Hart-Lunsford lasts for four years, and Plum will produce pics off of its own development slate as well as pics packaged and seeking a greenlight.
First project to be produced under the deal is writer-helmer Paul Soter’s romantic comedy “Watching the Detectives.” Soter is part of the Broken Lizard comedy troupe that has created such comedies as “Super Troopers” and “Club Dread.”
Pic is currently casting.
Backed by Los Angeles-based entrepreneur Reagan Silver, Plum is headed by Galt Niederhoffer, Daniela Taplin Lundberg and Celine Rattray.
Banner also previously produced Sundance title “Lonesome Jim,” directed by Steve Buscemi.
Hart-Lunsford is headed by Bruce Lunsford and Edward Hart.
