LONDON — Pathe Pictures Intl. will handle worldwide sales for “As It Is In Heaven,” this year’s Swedish Oscar entry. The film has been nommed for eight Swedish Guldbaggar awards.

“Heaven” tells the story of an acclaimed but weary music conductor who tires of the bright lights and retreats to a small village in Northern Sweden where he finds love and re-discovers his passion for music. The pic is a return from the wilderness for revered Swedish writer/director Kay Pollack and is his first feature for some 18 years. “Heaven” stars Michael Nyqvist in the lead, and Frida Hallgren, Helen Sjoholm and Lennart Jahkel.

Commenting on the deal with the co-producers Sonet Films, Alison Thompson, Pathe Pictures International topper said, “Having had the pleasure of working on ‘Breaking Out’ five years ago, I have been wanting to work with Sonet ever since. Sonet has an outstanding track record and we are thrilled to be working with them on this wonderful film.” Having notched 1,200,000 admissions in Sweden, “Heaven” is Sonet’s biggest box office hit in the territory.
