Nordisk festival trumpets ‘Secret’

Short Film Award went to Rangnes' 'Panther'

STOCKHOLM — Danish helmer Lars Johansson’s “The German Secret” won the Nordic Documentary Award at the 16th Nordisk Panorama — 5 Cities Film Festival, the largest event for Nordic shorts and docs.

Produced by Michael Opstrup and Thomas Stenderup for Final Cut Prods., “The German Secret” depicts the struggle of Johansson’s wife, Kirsten Blohmborn, to unlock the secrets of her family background.

Pic preemed in Denmark on Sept. 23 and screened at Amsterdam’s IDFA and Toronto’s Hot Docs.

The Nordic Short Film Award went to Norwegian Terje Rangnes’ “Panther Martin,” about the frustrations of a divorced father and his son. The seven-minute film was produced by Motlys.

A touring festival, this year’s Nordisk Panorama took place in Bergen, Norway, and attracted more than 500 film professionals.
