NEW YORK — HBO docu guru Sheila Nevins and producer Bob Yari will co-chair the Independent Feature Project’s upcoming Gotham Awards, the org’s annual fund-raiser.
The 15th edition of the Gothams will be held Nov. 30 at Chelsea Piers.
Ceremony, which shifted for the first time last year to a holiday season slot from its previous position as anchor of the fall IFP Market, will incorporate a spate of new competish categories this year, including ensemble cast, use of the arts in film and film not playing at a theater near you.
Competitive categories include feature, documentary, breakthrough actor and breakthrough director.
Yari is prexy and founder of Yari Film Group. His company’s credits include “Crash,” released by Lions Gate Films this year, and upcoming Edward Norton starrer “The Illusionist.”
Earlier this year, IFP Los Angeles relaunched itself as Film Independent (Find), putting the Independent Spirit Awards and Los Angeles Film Festival under that new moniker.
