Exodus Film Group and Melwood Films are going to the dogs.
Production companies have optioned rights to “Pavlov’s Dog,” from illusionist Nicholas Night and scribe Pat Hazell, with plans to turn it into a hybrid CG animated/live-action pic.
“Pavlov’s Dog” is the story of a flea named Pavlov who attempts to clean up the neighborhood on a dog where he has inherited property. Hazell and Night sold the story as a treatment and are currently finishing the script.
Companies will work together to raise financing with an eye toward a budget of $20 million-$30 million.
Exodus is already working with Melwood Pictures topper Max Howard on its toon “Igor,” which he’s exec producing. Howard is an animation vet who was previously president of Warner Bros. Feature Animation and senior VP of Disney Feature Animation.
